Simplicity is the key to the very best
of contemporary Australian Design.
We offer a selection of the very finest materials available in our
region - South Sea Pearls from Broome and the black pearls harvested
from French Polynesian lagoons, the warm and sparkling Champagne and
Cognac diamonds from the Argyle mine in Western Australia, and Australia’s
very own “Queen of the Desert”, the black opal from Lightning Ridge
in NSW.
These we hone with the accumulated skills of just over 30 years at the
jeweller’s bench.
Geoff and Kerry Roberts are studio jewellers, with a workshop and retail
shop in an old sandstone warehouse in Salamanca Place in the Hobart
Docks
Hobart is a famous harbour, one of the most navigable and friendliest in
the World. Apart from being near the docks and “the best fish &
chippy in Australia”, Australia’s Antarctic supply vessel, Aurora,
is often berthed just 100 metres from our workshop.
Geoff originally trained under Norwegian Silversmith Ragnar Hansen, and
is also a qualified Gemmologist and Valuer. He is also a Fellow of The
Gold and Silversmith’s Guild of Australia Inc. established in 1988 for
professionals in Australia working with precious metal. The Guild set up
and maintains a hallmarking system, which is your assurance of
Australian origin, quality of workmanship and design integrity.
Each piece made by us is stamped with
the Guild mark (Kangaroo head on diagonal), makers mark (GR), year stamp
(e) and metal quality stamps. Geoff has won numerous design awards over
the years, as well as exhibiting both nationally and internationally in
recent years. The basic design ethic of the continuously evolving range
of jewellery that Geoff makes is one of understated simplicity. We build
our jewellery to last several generations, and provide a warranty to
support that position. |
