Sunday Tasmanian 29th July Felmingham told us that the future beyond the mining boom might require increased Asian tourism, that the Mayor was pushing for direct international flights from Hobart airport. Sounds good but it will require increased funding of Tourism and a shift of focus. Perhaps the 3 million people only an hour away in Melbourne are a better target?

Meadowbank had a great wrap from Graeme Phillips in Sunday Tas of 29th July. Whilst recent press indicated that the experience was patchy, Phillips resounding endorsement can be regarded as authoritative because he understands the local market better than most. Chef Wayne Smith is said to follow a line of consistently good chefs at Meadowbank. Meadowbank is part of the Frogmore Creek business on the road to Richmond, about 20 minutes from Hobart CBD.

Save North Hobart Football Club. The long history and current centralized plans to force a merger or worse, have inflamed critics of Football Tasmania. Sunday Tasmanian of 29th July provides ample reason to believe that the fans and current members have a point. Maybe big business has had too much to say about the way clubs operate. Why can't local areas have a team and players of their own?
